Spent the day working on a tutorial

Spent the day yesterday learning so much from a tutorial by Blog Spoon Graphics: I created all my elements in Illustrator CS3 and then moved them into layers in Photoshop CS3. I learned so much about layers. I am a little rusty on Photoshop, but am now getting up to speed. I have so many other ideas I need to finish before I start school on Monday. That's right I'm going back to school. I need to finish my Associates degree and then I think I'm going into teaching. Really want to teach art in elementary school. Anyway need to go and get my books!

Seattle June 4th 2009 Art Walk

The highlight of the walk was this amazing and talented kinetic sculpture artist: Casey Curran from Seattle. This video shows the movement of the sculpture I saw on Thursday. It is truely amazing!

Now those are brushes! Fun Asian writing on long sheets of canvas outside the gallery that had the great fish lights. Asian calligraphy is so beautiful!

Gorgeous Asian fish lights created with fine paper. Would love to attempt this technique in some form or another!
Love the colors on this piece! I didn't look close enough to see if it was painted traditionally or if it was a digital print. Either way I really like the graphic qualities!

This piece is fabulous...didn't care for it until I found out that the dress was made out of romance novels. The top is created with crocheted roses. This would look amazing in the entry of my house. I didn't bother to look at the price, oh well. Guess I'll have to make one of my own! : )

Seattle First Thursday Art Walk June 4th

Awww...aren't they cute! This was the end of the evening on a beautiful Seattle day. After the Art Walk we moved quickly to the waterfront to catch this amazing sunset over the water.

Common Ground Cupcakes

Yummmmmmm....I'm inspired to create cupcake art!!

Love this painting of Aubrie Hepburn. I have this fabulous silk screened shirt of hers. I gotta wear it to this shop and take a pic!

My new favorite place in Renton WA, Common Ground Cupcakes. Not only do they have great cupcakes...they flavor their frosting, yum! They have great art on the walls. I've taken pictures of the murals that are on the walls. They also have local artists work displayed. Every excuse I get to go have a coffee and a cupcake I do it...life is short...eat cupcakes!!

Exercises from The Creative License by Danny Gregory

Here are some exercises from Dan's book. The first one is a drawing where I looked at my subject. The other is a contour drawing. I drew my daughter without looking at the paper. She wasn't happy about the outcome, but I like it. Check out Danny Gregory's site at: www.dannygregory.com.
